Weathering Steel Plate is a low-alloy series steel between ordinary and stainless steel. Weather-resistant steel plate is made by adding a small amount of anti-corrosion elements such as Cu and Ni to ordinary steel so that the steel has better toughness, formability, weldability, machinability, and fatigue resistance. The weather resistance of weather-resistant steel plates are 2 to 8 times that of ordinary carbon steel plates, and the coating performance is 1.5 to 10 times that of ordinary carbon steel plate. At the same time, the weather-resistant steel plate has an anti-rust ability, which can prolong the service life of the steel. Weathering steel is a particular type called weathering steel or weathering steel. When the material is exposed to the atmosphere, it develops an oxide layer on the surface called a patina.
The oxide layer acts as an anti-corrosion coating on the surface of the corrosion-resistant plate, making it last longer without further corrosion. This material is used in different applications where oxidation often occurs. Because the oxide layer once formed does not corrode after the first oxidation, corrosion-resistant steel sheets are used in chimneys, tubular bridges, containers, storage tanks, weathering steel facades, and other long-lasting applications. Corten plates are composed of carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, chromium, copper, and nickel. Different grades have slightly different ingredients, such as Corten A board. There are different levels, with different strength values. The minimum yield strength of the sheet is 355MPa, and the minimum tensile strength of the sheet is 470 to 630MPa. The smaller thickness of 3mm thick A558 Corten A plate has a minimum yield strength of 275MPa and a minimum tensile strength of 410MPa.
