Carbon Steel Channel

A36 hot-rolled carbon C-sections, also known as “American Standard Channels”, are the best choice for most machining techniques. A36 hot-rolled channel steel has a rough blue-gray surface. The A36 material is a mild steel that is long-lasting. Hot-rolled C-sections have a “structural shape” that is greater than 3 inches in at least one dimension (excluding length). C-channels have an approximate 16-2/3% slope within the flange face, unlike “MC” channels. Common applications include structural support, trailers, and other construction uses. ASTM A36/A36M-08 is a standard specification for carbon structural steel. Channel steel is divided into “C” type and “U” type according to its appearance. So there are two standards to display the channel size – UPE and UPN. UPE is suitable for C-channels with parallel flanges and UPN is suitable for U-channels with tapered flanges. Hot-rolled carbon channel steel is used in general structural engineering. It has excellent weldability, processability, drilling, punching, tapping, and grinding properties. For general structural and mechanical applications such as riveted, bolted, or welded construction of bridges and buildings. Reinforcing products such as braces, frames or brackets are also common.
