Hot rolled mild carbon Steel Rebar or mild carbon Steel Rebar contains 0.05% to 0.25% carbon and is mainly composed of iron and ferrite without significant alloying. It is more magnetic than other types of steel and is also more prone to oxidation or rust. To prevent rust, steel must be treated or coated.
Mild Steel Rebar is usually smooth-sided, so it doesn’t bond well to concrete unless it is bent before pouring or embedding. It has a tensile yield strength of approximately 40,000 psi and is used for a variety of construction and fabrication purposes as well as for decorative purposes.
The surface shape of low-carbon steel bars is smooth and round. They are available in various sizes from 6mm to 50mm. They are used in concrete for special purposes such as dowels in expansion joints where rods must slide in metal or paper sleeves, contraction joints in roads and runways, and column helices. Mild steel is used for structural purposes and is also used to make signs, ornaments, furniture, automobiles, fences, wires, and nails. It’s cheaper, making it more common and popular.
