317L is an austenitic stainless steel, mainly used for butterfly valve shafts, butterfly valve sleeves, etc. This stainless steel is based on molybdenum and is more resistant to chemical corrosion than conventional chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steels such as Alloy 304. The “L” in 317L stands for “low carbon”, which means the carbon content is less than 0.03%.
