7075 Aluminum – This grade has been the strongest, hardest alloy commercially available for decades. Closely related, 7175 is purer but may not be suitable for fracture toughness applications. 7075 rolled or cold worked bar in T73 and T7351 tempers offers excellent stress corrosion resistance, making it a reasonable alternative to 2014, 2017, and 2024 alloys in many of the most critical applications. In machined parts and forgings, it is mainly used in aircraft, ordnance, high-stress structural applications, keys, pinions, etc. It is more difficult to forge than other alloys but is often chosen for its properties. Good machinability, satisfactory resistance welding, excellent finishing characteristics, and average corrosion resistance.
7075 aluminum tube combines high tensile strength and yield strength to form an alloy with excellent hardness and fracture toughness. This product should be considered for applications where high strength is a critical factor but where high corrosion resistance is not required. 7075 tube is reasonably machinable and can be easily formed in the annealed condition. The alloy can be spot or flash-welded. As a high-strength alloy, our material has an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, which is why 7075 alloy is a popular material in aerospace and racing applications. 7075 aluminum tubing has good resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC). We also machine aluminum tubing in-house to tight tolerances.
