Stainless steel is a metal material with high corrosion resistance. Its main chemical elements include iron, chromium, nickel, carbon, manganese, silicon, titanium, etc. Among them, iron and chromium are the basic elements that make up stainless steel. Chromium can improve the strength, hardness and wear resistance of stainless steel. Silicon can increase the elastic limit, yield point and tensile strength of steel and is widely used in spring steel.
In addition, depending on the stainless steel model and use, it may also contain other trace elements, such as molybdenum, copper, etc. For example, molybdenum can improve the high-temperature strength and creep resistance of stainless steel. The more common ones we use daily are 316, 316L, 304, and 304L stainless steel.
The chemical composition of 304 stainless steel sheet mainly includes iron, chromium, nickel and other elements, of which the chromium content is more than 18% and the nickel content is about 8%. This stainless steel plate has a smooth surface and good reflective properties, so it is often used to make decorative materials. Due to its excellent corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance, it is widely used in food production equipment, chemical equipment, nuclear energy and other fields.
The 304L stainless steel plate has excellent corrosion resistance and formability. Compared with 304 stainless steel, its carbon content is lower, so annealing is not required after welding. It has good oxidation resistance at high temperatures, reaching temperatures up to 1650°F (899°C) without significant scaling. With intermittent exposure, its maximum temperature is 1500°F (816°C).
304L stainless steel plates are often used in automobiles, aerospace, construction materials, food processing equipment and other fields, especially beer brewing, milk processing and wine manufacturing. In addition, it is used in sinks, equipment and appliance manufacturing, chemical containers, shipping containers, heat exchangers, and nuts, bolts, screws and other fasteners in marine environments.
