C28000 brass, commonly known as Muntz metal, is a copper-zinc alloy composed of approximately 60% copper and 40% zinc. C280 Muntz is most commonly found in sheet and sheet. Cu Zn40 is considered a duplex alpha + beta brass with excellent hot workability but lower corrosion resistance than C464 naval brass.
C28000 Muntz is commonly used in architectural applications including decorative panels, elevators, decorative work and signage. Compared to the yellowish tint of C260 cartridge brass, C280 brass plate has a warmer appearance and is easily polished. Industrial applications for 280 brass include baffles and tube sheets.
