Prepainted Galvalume Steel Coil

Pre-coated GALVALUME steel coils are baked at the factory. Processing on a painting line includes cleaning, pretreatment, primer and topcoat, and the formation of a uniform paint finish, all in one continuous process. Prepainted GALVALUME steel coil systems are highly corrosion-resistant aluminum-zinc coatings that serve as the basis for paint systems. Chemical pretreatments are used to promote adhesion between paint and metal coating surfaces. Apply a high-performance primer over pre-treated surfaces to enhance corrosion resistance, especially around cut edges, scratches and bends. The system is completed by the application of colourful, durable coatings selected according to the performance requirements of the application. Typical topcoats include acrylics, polyesters, siliconized polyesters, fluoropolymers and plastisols.

PPGL steel coil is a color-coated galvalume steel coil, also known as a prepainted galvalume steel coil, coil-coated steel sheet, color-coated steel sheet, etc., usually using hot-dip galvalume steel coil as the base material.

The term is an extension of GL, the traditional abbreviation for galvalume steel. Today, the term GL usually refers to pure z55%Al/Zn alloy continuous hot-dip steel, rather than the batch dip process. PPGL means factory pre-painted galvalume, i.e. the steel is painted before forming, rather than post-painted after forming.

The hot-dip metal coating process is also used to manufacture steel sheets and coils with an aluminum coating or zinc/aluminum, zinc/iron, and zinc/aluminum/magnesium alloy coatings, which can also be pre-painted at the factory. While GL may sometimes be used as a collective term for various hot-dipped metal-coated steels, it is more accurate to refer only to galvanized steel. Likewise, PPGL can sometimes be used as an umbrella term for a range of prepainted metallic coated steels, but more commonly refers more precisely to prepainted az-coated steels.
