Cold rolled steel (sometimes abbreviated CRS) is known for being extremely ductile, making it ideal for applications that require precision. It is used in many applications such as household appliances, furniture, storage cabinets, and filing cabinets. In construction applications, CRS is often used to construct garages, steel sheds, and other industrial buildings.
Cold-rolled stainless steel coils can be fabricated with precision, allowing the metal to be produced to extremely tight tolerances. The act of working hardening stainless steel materials by cold rolling allows us to achieve various grades of tempers such as quarter, half, and full hard. The level of hardness depends on how much cold work has been done to the steel. Quarter, half, and full hard stocks see even greater reductions (sometimes as much as 50%). This increases the yield point but reduces the ductility of the steel. Quarter-hard steel can be bent backward without breaking, half-hard steel can be bent through 90-degree angles, and full-hard steel can be bent through 45-degree angles without breaking.
